FAQs

What breed of hogs do you raise?

We primarily raise Berkshire and Duroc.

What certifications does your pork have?

Our pork is antibiotic-free, pasture raised, no added hormones (it’s actually illegal in pork!), Heritage breed, vegetarian fed.

Do you use antibiotics?

We believe that there are times when using antibiotics is absolutely necessary for the health and wellbeing of our animals. In these rare circumstances, we do administer antibiotics sparingly. With that said, if an animal has been administered antibiotics, we do not sell that meat to our customers. The antibiotic-free label is one that has always been important to our customers and is one that we will continue to uphold. In our opinion, this is the best of both worlds! We do what’s best for the animals and we only offer the best to our customers.

Do you raise everything on your farm?

Yes! All of the meat we sell has been exclusively grown by our family right on our farm.

Do you process your own meat?

No. We use a NCDA and USDA-inspected meat processor in eastern North Carolina to slaughter, cut, vacuum-seal and freeze our meat.

Do you sell half and whole hogs?

Yes! Half and whole hogs are sold as “boxes”. The boxes give you a sampling of all cuts of meat found in a pig with a clear and straightforward pricing structure. The boxes offer a significant discount compared to purchasing by the pound.

What do your pigs eat?

Our hogs are pasture raised and eat a free choice locally grown, non-GMO grain diet. They enjoy what they root and forage on their own in the environment in which they are raised which can include acorns and tubers.

Who owns the land at Morgan Meats?

We have worked hard to purchase 26 acres of land, debt-free to farm! We began in our neighborhood backyard. When we outgrew our backyard, we rented land from a fellow young farmer. Finally, we found two adjacent pieces of land and purchased them to continue growing our farm.

Do you sell BBQ hogs?

Yes! BBQ hogs are great for family reunions, birthday parties, class reunions, church gatherings, and more. If you are interested in purchasing a BBQ hog, please contact us with your group size so we can calculate the size BBQ hog required. We typically need about 2-3 weeks notice.
